Tools That Every New Homeowner Should Have

By

Being a new homeowner can be a little overwhelming, especially if you don’t have all the essentials you need to get off to a good start. It can be easy to let the small pieces slip your mind, so why not be prepared for the unexpected and have all the supplies you need so you can make your new house a home?

Many times you don’t realize how handy or convenient something is until you have it in your hands. Something as simple as a tool bag with the basics when you’re all moved in and want to get started on decor will potentially save you multiple trips to the hardware store, not to mention time. You’ll need the obvious like a screw driver, hammer, nails, measuring tape, what about a stud finder, have one of those? Very basic, but necessary items when thinking about decorating your new place. You can’t forget about the small things as you are preparing to make your house homey.

Electric tools have to be one of the greatest inventions since sliced bread. It is a necessity to have at least an electric screwdriver when drilling holes in the walls, specifically when hanging large, heavy pieces. Plus another thing about electric screwdrivers is how you can drill the screw out of the wall as well, saving the strain of having to do it manually. You also don’t have to worry as much about stripping the screw you are using, since the electric screwdriver will do all of the hard work for you. Owning one of these is great because it will get your job done fast and with ease.

As a new homeowner, a lawn mower is probably not the first thing on your mind, but it also shouldn’t be the last. Part of keeping your new home beautiful is maintaining a nice lawn. You’ll need the essentials for a nice yard such as a reliable lawn mower and gas to go with it, as well as a weed-eater and string, at least to start out. While you’re at it, you might want to make sure you have a hose and a sprinkler in order to keep your lawn green. It is very appealing to drive through a neighborhood with green, well cut lawns, so why not make yours one of them? Your house will especially stand out if you are one of the only homes to have a nice yard on the street!

Thinking about hanging Christmas or patio lights out eventually? A ladder might come in handy. Or even when you have a hard to reach place inside the home, whether it’s wanting to hang something high on the wall, or needing to change a light bulb on the fan that hangs from a tall ceiling. Things like a ladder are tools that you never really think about having until you realize that you need one.

New homeowner, do yourself a favor and try not to skip over the little things that can turn into big things if you don’t have them. Save yourself a little time and effort by investing in the essentials listed above and prepare to be satisfied with the results!

Good morning James. This is a good refresher on why tools matter and are necessary. Perhaps you could use a bigger font so old eyes could read it better.
