The blue marble tree growing in Haiku Maui Hawaii

The blue marble tree growing in Haiku Maui Hawaii

I have never seen anything like this before... bright blue fruits dropping from a tree in Haiku Maui.

The blue marble tree grows these seeds

So I looked it up, and apparently the blue marble tree comes from Australia, and is very sacred in India, yet here it is growing in Haiku Maui.  Of course most anything grows quite well in Haiku so I shouldn't be surprised.

They were on the ground in all stages of fresh and decayed. Once the blue outer covering melts away, the inner seed is revealed.  In India these seeds are called rudraksha and they are sacred because they have some kind of spiritual energy!  They are strung together into rosary beads and incorporated into jewelry.

This was all very interesting to learn from just picking up some pretty blue marbles one day while showing a property for sale.

I know where this property is, in case you're looking for a very special and unique home in Haiku.  Just ask, and I can show it to you if you're in the market.

Search the Maui MLS for Haiku Maui homes for sale.

Georgie-Those are so pretty. Very unique, I wonder if they are edible, Hawaii is on my bucket list and within a few yrs I will be able to cross it off my list as I will be planning a visit.

George, these are amazing. I guess they won't just dry and stay like this forever, love the blue color, so vivid!  It's amazing what we encounter when we show homes!

Wow, that's interesting, Georgie. I had never heard of these either. I shall have to ask my Indian friend about them.

Those blue marbles are absolutely amazing to see.  I've never seen anything like it here on the mainland.

This is very interesting. The fruits almost look like blueberries in your first picture, but the other pictures show them to be a much brighter blue. Thanks for sharing this information.
