Businesses that treated us well- July edition

Each month I've used my Active Rain blog to feature a business that went above and beyond for us.  If you're not aware of the story, in September of 2013 my then 8 year old daughter was diagnosed with Leukemia. She fought valiantly for 7 months before losing her battle in April of 2014.  Throughout her battle many family members, friends, and members of our community supported us in so many different ways that I could never possibly pay back.  Some of these people are business owners and the best way I know to show my appreciation is to give them a little acknowledgment on my blog.

This month's installment is a little different.  I only recently found out what these individuals did for us. When Abby passed away we requested that if people wished to send flowers that they would donate a Flippeez hat for the kids on the cancer floor at Phoenix Children's Hospital.  Abby received one as a gift from her younger sister and she hardly ever took it off.  Comfy Cozy's for Chemo is the charity that facilitated our donation request.  Several friends donated money to buy hats and Lorraine of Comfy Cozy's picked them up for us.

When we received the call fom Lorraine that the hats were there and ready for distribution our family packed up and headed to PCH.  When we got there we were shocked to learn that they received enough donations to get almost 200 hats.  What I didn't know until earlier this year the parents of one of Abby's school mates did a huge drive and got over 100 of the hats donated.  The owners of FIIT training center, Jennfier and Jason Smith went above and beyond to not only honor Abby and bring some joy to our family, but to put a smile on the faces of all the kids that received a hat.  We had enough to give hats to the siblings of the cancer patients (often overlooked in this horrible journey) and enough that we were able to come back to the clinic on a different day and distribute more.  Not all the pediatric cancer patients have to stay in the hospital so this was a nice surprise for them.

Thank you to Jennifer and Jason for supporting the pediatric cancer patients at Phoenix Children's.  If you're looking for a great trainer in a North Central Phoenix location check out FIIT at 16th Street and Camelback Roads.  Check out their website here:
