The Foundation Puzzle Regarding Manufactured Homes

How do you determine if a manufactured home has a Permanent Foundation? Since HUD does not have a blanket foundation approval policy and different manufacturers have different designs, foundation determination can be open for interpretation.

To protect the lender and provide FHA/HUD with compliance continuity, a certification by a civil or structural engineer specifying that the foundation meets HUD Permanent Foundation Guide For Manufactured Homes, September 1996 is required on all FHA-insured loans.

Always be careful who you are dealing with when it comes to foundation retrofitting a Manufactured Home. There are a lot of contractors who can certainly instal al foundation.

But there are not many who have the knowledge, information, experience or wherewithal to follow through with all the necessary permitting and paper work  necessary to complete the process and deliver an engineered certification and 433a documentation.
