No Words...Just LOL

I copied the photo from Eastvale talk. I don't know the circumstance behind the caption, but my initial response was to laugh at it. Although, texting while driving is nothing to laugh about. I am certain our local law abiding officer was just trying to enforce the law.

I'm just going to hope that officer swerved rapidly to avoid a cute little dog or cat that jumped out in front of him causing his vehicle to careen over the sidewalk.

Actually it is lawful in my state for first responders to text while driving.

Mississippi passed a "No Texting Law" effective July 1.  No texting, email, no social media, etc. It's a good law... I've been guilty too many times of checking texts or FB. Not any more!

California's no texting law has been in effect since 2009. However, they need to increase the infraction fines which currently is only $20 dollars for the first citation. Too many  lives have been lost due to texting.

Sarah & Les Oswald actually not (in my opinion) because I know why the circumstances of when it's used. There are times when radio traffic is not appropriate because the perp may be listening to a scanner. A private text to the officer responding to a call is just that private and may save a life if someone is holding a person in a hostage situation or in a home invasion.  Also in rural areas where having a GPS is totally useless sometimes directions are sent via text from someone in dispatch looking at a map to the person responding to a call.

Of course with any exception the ability to text can be abused, but it does serve an important purpose and in my state I believe was carefully thought through.

Yep, I've witnessed them "multi-tasking" as they drive down the road too!
