Have You Ever Been Stood Up at the Alter?

By
Real Estate Agent with Elizabeth Anne Weintraub, Broker DRE #00697006

Well, have you? Have you ever been stood up at the alter? For me, alter of marriage, never, although I can count at least 4 times when it might have been prudent. Alter of Sacramento real estate, though, that's another story.

Especially when you're standing on the steps of a home seller's stoop, about to ring the door bell, and there are 2 doorbells, so you don't know which one to ring, therefore you ring them both anyway and yet do not hear either doorbell ringing inside of the home. Instead, what you hear are a mass of barking dogs, and then a sleepy voice saying, hold on, I'm coming.

You can read more in my personal blog today about that at this link: Listicles, Drones, James Taylor and Rude Home Selllers.

Oddly enough, one of the listing appointments I was left hanging on the door step of when the woman had bailed on me, I ended up coming back to when the husband called about a year later to sell.  At least he valued appointments.  Not sure either of them valued their house due to the shape it was in.  And they were upset when I told them they needed, at minimum, carpet and paint.  So I am left hanging again.

As you put it, they need me worse than I need them.  Next!

Stood up at the alter, now there's an analogy for you!

As for the alter of marriage, I've always been so commitment phobic in that regard, that it isn't likely to happen!

"They" say everything happens first in California. I guess we can add drones to that list! As for the sleepy seller, well, did she have a really good excuse??

Good morning Elizabeth.  Like you I've only had this happen a couple of times.  Annoying is not the word I would use.

Hi Elizabeth.  I never heard the term listicles.  Of course I had to Google it.

Hi Elizabeth.  Not a very encouraging sign from this prospective listing.  Are you going to go back?

Elizabeth, have not been stood up for a listing appointment, but have gone to a home waiting for a buyer, and they did not show.

Myrl Jeffcoat You had at least one engagement that I know of with the alter of marriage, right?

Pat Starnes She was only one of the sellers and not the seller I had made the appointment with. The seller I made the appointment with apparently was in San Diego, and this one in the house says "we need to cancel the appointment," and it was a little late for that, don't you think?

Well, it wasn't exactly an alter.  We eloped to Carson City, Nevada, and stood in front of the Justice of the Peace at the Courthouse.  I've been commitment phobic, ever since!
