san diego sky july 2015

When it rains in San Diego, most of us are happy to see it, but we really shouldn’t be on the road, if we don’t have to, so if you’re inside today, here are some fun and productive things to do:

Social networking

Social networks are said to take up a lot of time online these days, but it also serves a very great purpose. It can let us interact with people from all over the world. Facebook might be one of the most visited websites, but there are so many other social websites where internet surfers are gathering now.

Make Memos

I know we all make lists for things we need to remember, but this website is great for helping us if we check our email daily. It’s called memo to me. And the best part is, it’s free; here is the memotome website.

Invest

Now I know for some people this doesn’t exactly take that much of their time, but invest doesn’t always have to mean were talking about money. When I think of that word, I mean that everyone should invest some thought into their future, whether you’re learning a new skill, taking a new class, planning out a way to exit the rat race. There are lots of ways to invest our time, one way to plan for our future is to build a nest egg; there are many ways to do that, one just has to apply what they learn. Here’s a great website if you’re interested in working towards making extra money from home.

Menu Plan

Lots of people eat out too often or buy processed food to feed our families when we are tired at the end of a day. Saving money and eating healthier is as easy as planning a menu. Meal planning can be done like the old school menus used to be composed. Here is a website that has menu templates.

Write a letter

We all write emails, but when was the last time you picked up a note card or for that matter received a hand-written note or letter from anyone? Writing letters is a great rainy day activity. It makes us think about what we’ve been doing, what were going to do; it gives us a chance to catch up with our sphere or write thank you notes that we don’t do often enough.

Research health or make a medical diary

Thinking about our health is something we all do to a different degree, but it’s probably not something we think about enough or prepare for before anything major happens. There’s so much to think about, but one thing that is something that can be done on a rainy day, is to organize ourselves a medical file or start and organize a medical diary, listing all the medicines we take, who our doctors are and important phone numbers to call in an emergency.

Plan a vacation or plan your life

This one is not something we all do. There are lots of people that never take a vacation. Even if you never take a vacation, a rainy day is the perfect time to make plans to take one or if you feel you can’t afford one, make yourself a bucket list. It’s so important to have dreams, a bucket list is cheap and once it’s written down, one would be surprised how things materialize once we write them down.

Forums

I’m always entertained by the amount of forums that there are out there. There’s a forum for everything from health, to food, to money, to sports, to whatever your interest happens to be. Craigslist has a lot of discussion forums for a good start, but you will find there are many different forums out there and a lot of it’s searchable. So, if you post something on a forum, you might want to be careful about what you post. Here’s a list of internet forums to get you started. There are also free podcasts available to listen to in the Itunes store, if you're not much of a reader.
