Good Sunday afternoon everyone-I came home from getting last minute things for my trip next week and this freaky looking bug greeted me on my front step. I didn't want it coming in my house so I put a plastic container over it and then went inside and got my camera. I cropped it so it isn't as clear plus it was crawling before it flew off. I have no idea what it is but the eyes are rather spooky looking and if I am lucky I won't encounter IT again.
I knew it was a beetle, but was unsure of the type. Freaky looking for sure.

Tammy-I never saw a beetle that big and it is those false eyes are what makes it looks so freaky

Jon-Well I wasn't exactly ready but at least he didn't get in the house and I captured its pic and found out what it was. Nice to see you. I am away on vacation but will return either tomorrow or Saturday.
Good Friday morning Sharon. I have seen this bug before. I'm not too sure what it is called. I haven't seen it in Tennessee and I remember seeing it when I lived in Florida.

Michael-I had never seen it but Debb Janes knew what it was. A click beetle. I googled it. I imagine Fla would have them. I had never seen one before this one.

Well, it's just amazing what I learn here! :-) I bet some of your birds would like to eat that click beetle, I don't believe I've ever seen one :-)
Mary-I learned too because I didn't know what it was until Debb Janes told me what it was. It would have to be a fast bird to catch I think though. I had never seen one or since.

I had a freaky encounter tonight. I came home after staying at the dog park until almost dark. Then had to do a Walmart trip to pick up something for a sick friend. Then spent time at her house. So it was fairly late when I settled in at home.
I'm sitting here working on my AR blog and I hear what sounds like someone trying to get in my front door. I forgot to lock it. I bolted over and leaned hard against the door while I locked it.
You know what that noise was? Well Chloe had gotten into one of the cabinet and I shut the door not knowing she was in there. After over an hour she was finally trying to get out. LOL.
