What Does ActiveRain Mean to All of Us?

Real Estate Agent with Century 21 Liberty Homes RS-#62825

Over the course of the last month, I have seen our ActiveRain “old timers” or even the new timers (who left the platform for a few months), start trickling back in to meet and greet the old and new…including me. WHY?  Because we started seeing the ActiveRain we grew up with appear once again before our very eyes.

I started blogging on ActiveRain in March of 2007 (after lurking about a few times from the November before) and it was then that I took that leap into writing my first post.  I had read a negative post and wanted to let the community know that I would not be lurking about but continue to write and bring positivity into this wonderful place called ActiveRain.

Global CommunityBack in November of 2007, the CO-FOUNDER of ActiveRain, Jonathan Washburn compared ActiveRain to an Italian Piazza. He goes on to say....quote: "At the piazza, the local community gathers for camaraderie after the workday, and now, blog communities are online social hubs where people of similar interests gather to share and exchange ideas, as well as form relationships".

It IS true. We share information and ideas and through our writing and commenting on others posts we connect. We have even met some of our other members and even referred clients to those we met and trusted.  ActiveRain meant so much to me for years….and it slowly changed to something that clearly was not the ActiveRain that was intended.

Jonathan Washburn asked us this question in July 25, 2009:   What is ActiveRain?   Bob Stewart gave his answer on July 01, 2015 in ActiveRain 2.0: The Next Decade.  These two men created the Weltanschauung and as I reread this document, I too am reinvigorated to return  with the passion I once had for this great Real Estate Industry Platform….ActiveRain.

Now…let me ask you this.  What is ActiveRain to you?

For Me?   Plain and Simple.

The People That Are Behind …Their Written Words…

That We Connect With…

In this Global Community called…

Sally it's great to look back and remember the earlier days!  There is so much that ActiveRainmeans to me - first and foremost are the relationships I've formed over the years. Rarely is there a day when I'm not in contact with a fellow rainer. Add to that knowledge, sharing information  plus creating lots of business.....it's the best platform!

Sally we did have fun hijacking a post over the weekend which might be what @Charles Buell is talking about!  Tammy Lankford started the fun for all!

Activerain brought on the beginning of my Real Estate career. I was brand new, moved to Elkhart without knowing anyone and started learning about short sales from both Katerina Gassett and Tim and Julie Harris. By the time short sales went by the wayside I could handle anything. ActiveRain is my family

Sham Reddy I hope your comment was tongue in cheek.  If not, then you have a different understanding of ActiveRain than I do, because it's certainly been a great place for me to promote listings and get them found by buyers looking for homes and promote my website and have buyers connect with my firm and hire us to find them the right home. It's also be a place to promote neighborhoods and my knowledge of them which connects me with consumers.

Celeste "SALLY" Cheeseman for me it's a way to connect with buyers, connect with sellers and connect with colleagues. It's grown my business and it's grown my circle of referral partners, my knowledge and even my friends.

ActiveRain was influential in writing  my book, in going out on my own as a solo broker and for hosting my weekly radio show.

I have become friends,  networked and met thousands.

Sellers and buyers find and follow me on AR. I  write about and share my blogs with my clients.

If I didn't need CE credits, there would be no need go to any other classes. Any question I need can be found right here.

It is a place for me to both learn and to share my successful techniques along with my 25 years of experience.  I have been doing MeetUps long before we called them MeetUps.

And as many of you know, I have spoken to at least one AR member every day since 2006. It has been an important part of my  real estate business  and a tremendous amount of support over the years.

Thanks  for asking!

Celeste "SALLY" Cheeseman - for me. ActiveRain is a second life in my real estate business! Through those lean years, the relationship that I cultivated on ActiveRain helped me going on and on! I do remember one of them was your contest where my entry was selected for a special prize!

Just a THANK YOU is not enough for me.

ActiveRain means everything for me - whether it leads to giving me business or not, it does give me that extended family who is on my side when I need them.

Mike...It's fun isn't it...when AR is just being AR.

Anna: I found it!  Even though late...it was fun reading all!

Evelyn:  Exciting how we were newbies....and learned from others here!

Tammy:  I'd wondered that myself but chose the path of explaining. If it was a tongue in cheek then my apologies!  And I second that on What AR means to you!

Joan: The ONLY reason I have been signing in as much as I have been is because of ....it seemingly being what we all desired.  There is nothing wrong with continuing to be what we all grew up with. Bottom line...all those other ways...proved to be the beaten path.

Margaret: Yes, you are one of the long standing members who gets on the phone and reaches out to a member ...if not more..per day. THAT is commendable for sure! I have your book on my shelf and will never give that up!

Praful....I miss those contests....and missed the last one due to personal things I needed to tend to. SOme are resolved...some still working on....main thing is that I feel "back at home' with all of my extended AR family....including you!

I believe there are two new groups (not official) on AR now. Those who are returning (like you), and those, who decided not to leave yet (like me).

Hope we made all the right choices

Celeste "SALLY" Cheeseman The essence of Active Rain comes through in your post and every one of the responses.  There is simply no better place to be, if you are seeking information, answers, debate, friendship, referrals, support and so much more. I'm thrilled that Ben and Bob are at the helm of Active Rain.

What a positive post about ActiveRain. I wasn't here in the early days, but have certainly seen an entirely new level of energy over the last month or so. Yay!

I really chuckle when folks romanticize the 'good old days.'

The same applies here on Active Rain.

For many the Good Old Days are and and were not as your romanticized descriptions suggest.

I truly, truly, truly hope and pray no part of the GOOD OLD DAYS reemerge in AR future. Those days, as you describe..never existed.

However, I do embrace the new creation, the goal of a pre-emanate website for real estate professional, articulated by the new owner.

Hopefully he knows the world has changed and reaching backwards won't take you forward.
