I finally got my first slide video to work. It took a lot of effort yesterday, but now that I have this set up and a process, I'm well set up to get another 4 done by the end of the year. This is one of my December projects, and I'm a week ahead of schedule on this (as well as another project)...Of course, I'm behind on some others.
Anyway, I hope you like this. This is based on my most popular blog posts - Hardwood flooring - how long does it take to sand and refinish your floors? I've now added the vide to that blog post. Hopefully, it will both help with the user experience as well as placement on the search engines. Maybe I'll even get dual placement. We shall see.
So without further delay, here's my video:
I chose to do this with slides as a) it visualize what the end result looks like, b) for some slides, there is key info printed, and c) with this method I don't need to worry about having a bad hair day. (As it turns out, right now, I just had my hair done so it looks good, but I'm still getting over a cold, so my eyes don't look so hot). You can hear it a bit in my voice, so I'm going to wait a few more days before doing some more, and instead concentrate on getting the slides together.
Also, if anyone has any video SEO tips, I'm all ears. That will be something else I'll be working on for December.
And for those looking to do something similar, I did this on my computer using Jing (free). I then had to find an swf converter (I googled that). And, then I uploaded to youtube and vimeo. This proved to be more challenging than I thought (due to the conversion), so there may be easier ways. And, now that I've mastered this, I know how to do going forward. I'm very glad that this is something I can do at home any time...so when we get more snow days, guess what I'll be doing.
Jing only allows the video to be 5 minutes..and mine is just under...and it took me many tries. I'm going to try to figure out some topics where I can do much shorter ones as I think 2 minutes is more ideal. But, for this question, I definitely needed that 5 mins. Sorry that this is a bit long...but remember, my main target needs the detailed info.
