Niche marketing

this weekend, I took some C.E. Courses, one was Niche Marketing. My particular Niche,in Madison,Ms. Is new construction and have been marketing that for some years now. I would like to get feedback from my active rain friends on Niche Marketing. I know that many of you are from areas where condos are a big part of your business. Others , vacation homes are a substantial part. I have been fairly successful in my Niche, and it is a very targeted market,that requires much more time per transaction than most. Many of my clients have me from the dirt up and I love that part of my business. I work with the builders on lot choices,plan choices, pricing, amenities, etc..It is rewarding, as all of these homes are my "Babies", as I helped to create them..

   My questions for all of my Active Rain friends are: How many of you have a Niche market, whatever that niche may be? And how effective do you think it is to specialize?

    I enjoy my specialty and have for about 15 years, but I want to get your thoughts. It should be interesting. Thanks for your feedback. Steve Houck

Good Morning, my market it very diverse. I do not have a specific market that I deal with. My clients range from new construction to investment property. So I wear many hats. I will be visit Biloxi, Ms this weekend.

One size fits all does not anymore. You have to blog post with one audience in mind as you hunt and peck, place the images and links. The next marketing piece is from another angle. A different segment of the fragmented audience is what must happen today. Video is the easiest delivery for more eyeballs, eardrums, impressions.

During the fall and winter time it's the golf/retirement communities I start to market to. All of the snowbirds come back in to town starting in early October.

When I was an agent I didn't have a niche market - the community was simply too small, with too few houses being sold overall. 

Now, as a copywriter, my niche is real estate, and I urge my newsletter readers who live in highly populated areas to find a niche and become THE expert. Focus gives you the time and experience to know more than anyone else about the people and properties in your niche. 

When you try to dabble in everything, you become a "Jack of all trades, and master of none."
