Tuesday Travelogue-July 21st

Welcome to the ongoing weekly series called Tuesday Travelogue. We are in our fifty-fifth week!  Each week, some ActiveRain bloggers are spotlighted to take us somewhere we may not have been on some kind of virtual travel (and it doesn't cost a dime!). Here is the purpose:

" to enjoy the ride"

"take a trip without even leaving the farm"

"expand your horizons"

"see through someone else's eyes"

  and hopefully much more!

We are on our alphabetical trip across America. Today it's my state--OREGON!!!

Sunriver Oregon is one of my alltime favorite places. I had not seen this video before, from 2010 and it is STUNNING, start to finish. It captures some of the true essence of Central Oregon.  Thank you, Tarris Rogers for sharing Cody Cha's amazing video!

A place called Sunriver from Cody Cha on Vimeo.

Location: Sunriver Resort, OR

From central Oregon, we head west to the Pacific Ocean. Did you bring your camping gear? Here's Rick Obst's favorite campsite on the Oregon Coast

 Tillicum Beach Campground

I couldn't pass up this next one because the photos are plenty and for me it's the consummate localism post about a large produce market, but so much more. Schlichting Farm  in Sherwood Oregon is next on our travels. Thank you, Jason and Amber Gardner

This next stop is Southern Oregon. A California gal, Karen Pierce landed in Oregon and I don't think she's ever going to look back! She really spells out a nice story about the glories of Southern Oregon--more than just a vacation destination.

Applegate River, Oregon

A must see when visiting Oregon is a trip I took last year for the first time. The glorious and spectacular Crater Lake--a true piece of history that everyone has come to see for centuries and staying at the historic Prospect Hotel 38 miles from Crater Lake, in Prospect Oregon (the hotel to stay in AND they're dog friendly!)

Hi Gayle - Nice picks! There is so much worth seeing and doing in Oregon, but you left out my favorite place, one I've never actually been to, but I trust the very reliable source who has been wowing me for years with glimpses of paradise, better known as Fishhawk Lake.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel I keep thinking that people are getting bored...then I get this response from you--that makes it all worthwhile!

Belinda Spillman this doesn't even scratch the surface!

Dick Greenberg I kinda thought it would be too self-serving highlighting where I live and breathe clean air and pinch myself daily that I get to live HERE. So, here's a tease--a bit of history--this was the very first cabin at Fishhawk Lake. Built before the developer put in the man-made private lake, he asked this farmer if he could move his home, so that he could create this lake.

Many years later, the current owner while living in CA actually bought this ONLINE. Don't hear that too often!

Beth Atalay cooler (by far) than FLA and no humidity! We will eventually go your direction to Homosassa Springs, FL for a few months in the winter and then come back "home" to Oregon for the rest of the year.

Brian England if and when you get to the coast, you will definitely need to take your time. Go to Cannon Beach  (I have written many a post about this wonderful place), only an hour from Fishhawk Lake!

Also Astoria--a completely different type of coastal town than Cannon Beach. They did Goonies, Kindergarden Cop and I think Stand By Me--all filmed in Astoria.

From what I understand, Oregon is one of the most beautiful states in the US... I would love to visit Portland where so many things are on the forefront environmentally are happening!

Thank you Gayle for featuring my post on Sunriver, Oregon.  Rarely does a video capture the beauty of a place, but Cody Cha certainly did an admirable job of highlighting the things that make Sunriver such a special place in his video.  Oregon has such diversity in geology, weather, and terrain that few States can match.  It has truly been an honor serving as a real estate broker in the Central Oregon region.  Love your Tuesday Travelogue!

Love this set of photos, especially the one that show the tree that has been attacked by beaver. They have really taken on a huge tree. Really appreciate anything with water.

Rob Thomas yes, to environmental stuff (along with WA), and there has been an influx of people coming here to live simply because it's "Portland". "Keep Portland Weird" was an article my mom saved to have me read from the NY Times, I believe last year, about people who move to Portland not for a job or money, but because they simply want to live here! Funny. But, I totally get it. We also happen to be the Tiny House capital I guess....or we are leading the Tiny House craze...whatever...I will NEVER be doing that!

Jason & Amber Gardner I LOVED your post--it was the perfect localism post and exactly what I like to spotlight. Thank you! And thanks for now following my blog!

Tarris Rogers I am RIGHT THERE WITH YOU....I love Oregon so much and have actually had people from across the US visit me because of blogging on ActiveRain! It's been a wonderful treat to show off our state. I loved the video Cody did..it captures such emotion for me about SunRiver. Yours was the first post that I happened upon that excited me and I was thrilled to showcase it!

Jason & Amber Gardner I'm SO excited that this inspired you! What a great time, too since Bob Stewart and Ben Kinney are back!! Join the fun!

Carla Muss-Jacobs, Principal Broker/Owner did you check out that amazing video? I am a huge lover of the SunRiver Resort--have had many a glorious time there, even in the winter. And they have dog-friendly condos, too! I have gone horseback riding in the snow there, GAWD it was truly wonderful. Just the guide and me. The others didn't show. Fabulous. Also, my bestfriend's family used to have this funky old 70s cabin there and we had the BEST OF TIMES. OH, the parties!!!

Miss Joanna Cohlan--I KNEW you  would enjoy this and thought of you the whole time I was putting this together! There is so much more I could touch on...and like Dick Greenberg mentioned, I didn't spotlight Fishhawk Lake, because I thought that wasn't....well...right. Can't wait to coordinate our plans!
