This might be one for the record books for me. I have this nasty habit of trying to answer my phone every time that it rings. Whether I know the number or not, I answer. Sometimes I get caught off guard by the
conversations that take place and today, I was not expecting this!
The short story is that a buyer, under contract to purchase a home through HUD, found a blog that I wrote on the HUD home buying experience months ago and called to ask questions that she couldn't get answers from with her agent or her loan officer.
It was a very trying experience for my buyer and for me, at the time, I had A LOT TO SAY on the subject.
I could tell from her voice that the woman on the phone was in a bit of distress when she said, "SHOULD I FIRE MY AGENT?"
Whoa, Nelly! What???
There is a bus zooming down the roadway and I am not about to shove a stranger under the wheels!
I have very strict rules against giving advice to the clients of another agent.
Rule #1 - I don't give advice to other agent's clients.
Rule #2 - See Rule #1
She asked lots of questions about the HUD process, did I think her agent was doing a good job, etc.
My response was simple, HUD can be a trying experience and they can be difficult to deal with and I'm sure your agent is doing the best she can under the circumstances.
I doubt that I helped much, but I listened, I remained diplomatic and I STAYED OUT OF THE LINE OF FIRE!
Has this ever happened to you before?
How did you handle it?
