Range Fires

Several grassland fires are burning at Ft. Carson (near Colorado Springs) and Ordway (east of Pueblo).  This is quite a ways northeast of La Veta, but reminds us all just how badly we will continue to need moisture this spring.  Range fires are generally worrysome with a combination of dry conditions and high winds.  La Veta saw windy conditions yesterday as well but a cold front moving into our area is predicted to produce calmer winds and scattered rain showers and springtime snow flurries this evening.  These conditions will help manage and control the fire danger. Fires are scary anywhere, but especially in mountain country!  I lived in Vail during the Storm King fire...several good people lost their lives trying to protect people & property.
