"The Concrete Steps Are Falling Off”

Are those concrete steps becoming loose and in need of repair? In Sacramento, contractors are faced with the rotting of wood which is leading to the concrete steps failing to remain strong. Can this be repaired? Sure, but it may not be an easy task.

There are countless ways to build stairways in Sacramento, how it is done can have an effect on the potential for damage later on. The fastening, the weight, the materials and all that can prove itself over time. It may prove to be good choices and last long into the future, or prove to be a poor choice and become a liability to the owner of the property. It can always to repaired.

In looking at a problem stairway in Sacramento, management needed a repair right away. The stairs were loose and falling off and it had not been reported. The new tenants had signed their lease and planned on moving today. So with one day notice, things got busy. Schedule changed, people were notified and this became a priority right away.

We have done work here in the past working on this same stair design. We knew we could get it done in a day, which is the total amount of time we were allotted. In doing this sort of work you can't help but think about the design and how it could have been done better from the start. Making changes in a community where the stairs all need to match and mean that it must be rebuilt the same way during the repair. But you can't help but think that this could have been done better originally.

The concrete stairs that weigh about 100lbs each are fastened into wood stringers with six bolts. Once the wood starts to fail, the step becomes loose and dangerous. In order to fix this the wood stringers must be removed and replaced; to get the wood out, all of the steps need to be taken down. Not an easy repair, not an great design, but it can all be repaired.

Stair safety is very important and should not be taken lightly. If you are having a problem with loose steps, sloped stairs, or fallen treads contact a local contractor who is familiar with repairing steps in Sacramento. Correcting these problems can help eliminate injury and financial risks.

Tom, those stairs were a disaster waiting to happen. I'm glad that repairing them became a priority and scheduled were moved around to accommodate repairing the stairs.  No doubt there is more work to be done on other stairs in the complex.

Great looking repair Tom! Loose steps are a lawsuit waiting to happen so landlords and property owners would be wise to fix them as soon as they notice the problem!

I thought it was good that the staff all came to look at the steps before hand to know what to look for Nicole. All of those eyes should be seeing more than they are!
