Here's something I figured out very quickly after leaving a job in management that required I be on-site, in one place, a minimum of ten hours a day... Everyone believes now that I'm in real estate, I have free time up the wazoo! Noooooo, no, no no no and NO! Also, i'm rich. Filthy, stinking rich. Yes... I have entered the realm of unlimited free time and more money than I can put into golf outings and a fancy SUV.
But really, yesterday I thought I was going to lose my mind. My mother needed my help (it’s my mom, of course I’m going to help) and my buyer wanted to see a house he really liked (it’s my buyer, of course I’m going to help) and my daughter wanted rides here and there (okay, I’m not accommodating everyone in a single day) but the day ended well, because my buyer put in and offer and it was accepted today… yay!
Here’s just a small snapshot of what yesterday was like…
Go into the office for meeting first thing in the morning, meeting runs over and I leave early to meet buyer #1 for showings.
Mom calls in the middle of showings and leaves voicemail. Now, anytime mom leaves a voicemail the idea is the world has come to an end or someone in the family has died. Finish showings, call mom.
Mom needs a ride to the grocery store… moms and animals need to eat for goodness sakes!
In the middle of the day, drive mom, daughter and daughter's friend to the grocery store. Get a call from buyer’s lender.
Call lender back while two teenagers are in the backseat. Complete call, then yell at the girls…
Go show house to buyer #2 around 7pm. Buyer loves the house and makes offer.
Go home, write up offer, send offer to be signed, get offer signed, send offer to listing agent (getting help from another realtor who actually knows what she’s doing) … but in between, get dinner cooked and try to spend some quality time with the people who are needy and drive me crazy but I love more than anything in the world.
Go to bed and imagine venting in a blog post to the Activerain community.
But it was all worth it because today we have an accepted offer and it is my first. It’s also my buyer’s first home and it’s everything he’s been looking for. He is ecstatic and I’m happy for both of us. Hopefully no problems come up and we can get to closing asap :)
