Go Out of Your Way to Respond to People who Comment!

By
Services for Real Estate Pros with SimplifyEm

One thing that we do really well is respond to people who comment on OUR blogs... Of course, it's the right thing to do!

If someone takes the time to go out of their way and read your blog, and post a comment on your blog, that's obviously a nice gesture... You should at least take the time to comment back, or at least thank them for making a comment.

Unfortunately, some people only pay attention to their own blogs...

(Hopefully they are reading this)

Here's a bright idea!

(I seem to be full of these lately)

Since someone has taken the time to go out of their way and read YOUR blog, and post a comment on YOUR blog, you should return the gesture...

YOU should go out of YOUR way and read THEIR blog, and post a comment on THEIR blog.

It's just the nice thing to do!

When YOU sneeze, and someone says "Bless You," do you just stare at them in the face?

No, you say "Thank You."

And when they sneeze two seconds later, hopefully you'll say "Bless You" to them.

...just some food for thought...

Wow, this is certainly amazing - I definitely didn't expect to get this many comments - it's way out of the norm for me.

Jason, I know now what you mean. It isn't all the way simple, but it is "semi-doable."

Maybe not for someone who is a popular blogger like yourself, it is simply too difficult to keep up with.

But for smaller folks like me, it is the way to go.

In fact, rather than commenting back to the folks who have left a comment here, I think that time will be spent better visiting their blogs and making comments.

So all the folks who left a comment here, and didn't get a comment back - I'm sorry. But don't worry, I'll be making comments on your blogs!

Hi Niman... Yes today people need to be reminded of the simple things in life like courtesy! It never ceases to amaze me how we have seemed to loose some of the simplest gestures in life.. we all become rapped up in our own little worlds and forget how important the word THANK YOU really is. So Niman thank you for the post and your right people need to be courteous and respond to their posts its just plain simple :)

I'm conflicted on this... While I think it seems like the polite thing to do, I also think it seems like a potential bad habit to get into - doing this might greatly limit the blog posts that you read, and ultimately, may lead to cliquiness and idealogical inbreeding..!?

Great advice.  It is the courteous thing to do.  Who knows, you may actually learning something in the process!  I know I sure have!  JENNIFER

How do I respond?  I am so new to this I just join two days ago.  I posted a blog this morning and got two comments but I don't know how to thank them.  Do I leave a comment or what?

I agree!  I started doing just what you said and it has made such a difference.  Many have signed up to my blog and I often see them back.

Hello, I am a Newbie and still trying to figure out how all of this works.  I was actually wondering myself if a reply to everyone was necessary, I decided it was a nice gesture so I started emailing back the 20plus people who left me comments.  I still havent made it through them all yet, but I will get there.  :0)  As one person stated they reply by putting a comment on their blog itself, is that okay as well verses each individual person??  Anyhow, thanks for the great blog, it cleared up the very question I had!!!!!

I agree 100%. During my first week or so of my membership on AR, I didn't respond to comments. But quickly learned through experience that is not only better to respond and acknowledge comments; it also can also lead to receiving referrals.

Sometimes it takes me a little time to respond to comments I get, but I always make sure to respond.  Also, whenever I read someone's post, I try to  comment.  Common courtesy.  The good old "Golden Rule"

I try to do that.  Yesterday though I felt invisible.  I commented on a number of blogs and when I checked back at the end of the day no one had even acknowledged me on their own post.  It was a strange feeling since this is such a social group.

Kathy, I know exactly what you mean! I feel invisible all the time here, and I've been blogging for over a year now on ActiveRain! If you take a look at some of my recent blogs, you'll see that I spent quite a few hours putting my blogs together, and it really hurts when no one pays attention to them.

The thing that I've learned is that we must network first. At the rate ActiveRain has been growing, and with such a large number of "talented bloggers" - readers have the ability to pick and choose what they read, and often they will choose something that is familiar to them, something they recognize.

That's why it's crucial for us to become familiar and recognizable. And I think I've learned that the best way to do that is to drop a comment on a fellow ActiveRainer's blog - let them know that you exist, and that you appreciate them, for either reading your blog or for them writing their own blog.

The bond within the community is really what makes ActiveRain the way it is, and that's what's important.

I'm new to this blogging but I'll try to do what you just said and see if it works better.  It definitely makes sense.
