Just read on TechCrunch that Google will be starting to remove the requirement of having a Google+ account from it's services like YouTube over the coming month.

I have been trying to figure out Google+ for years now and it remains the least productive social network for me, so I have no problem with it.
The idea of Authorship with Google+ and ranking on Google with your content about two years ago was a great concept, but that did not last long either.
In my opinion Google is usually very good at taking an idea that already exists and making a better "Google" version of it...or just buying the company outright.
Google+ however in my opinion has never really taken off. What are your thoughts?
