Gaithersburg Joint Public Hearing - Zoning Map Amendment
A Joint Public Hearing will be held at 7:30 p.m. on August 3 for a request to rezone four properties from the C-2 (General Commercial) and E-1 (Urban Employment) zones to the MXD (Mixed Use Development) zone. The properties are located at 700 Quince Orchard Road, 1 and 5 Bank Street, and 14 Firstfield Road.
The applicant is proposing three mixed-use community blocks. The first would include the adaptive re-use of the existing building at 700 Quince Orchard Road for up to 300,000 sft of commercial space and up to 100 residential units. Block 2 proposes 135 to 175 residential units, and Block 3 includes up to 200,000 sft of commercial space and up to 80 residential units. Testimony can be made at the meeting or can be submitted in writing to planning@gaithersburgmd.gov. The background material will be available here as of July 30.
