I can only imagine the impact a shelter pet will make in your life.

I'll admit it, I'm a softy when it comes to babies, the elderly and animals, especially dogs. We had two geriatric rescue dogs until the last one passed in February 2015. They were a great source of joy in our house. They were wildly loved by all and shared an incredible amount of love with everybody.

If you're thinking about getting a dog or cat, please consider a shelter pet. There is a great misconception that there is something wrong with shelter pets. The truth is, many end up there because something happened to their owners. With our boys, one owner was arrested, and we have surmised that the other owner one passed away. That's still a bit of a mystery. More often than not, the pets end up there because of a human issue rather than a pet issue.

You will be amazed at how they can affect your life. I can only imagine.

Mike - I watched the entire video and it certainly touched me.  So glad to have people to help.

I'm a softie for pets too, Mike!  We have a shelter that always seems to be along the way to most everywhere I'm going.  I don't dare stop, I'd bring half of the "inmates" home with me.  I'd be ok with it, but one of my cats, definitely wouldn't!

Thanks for watching, Grant.

Me too, Myrl. We took in a rescue cat a few months ago. I think it would be a big issue for her. We'll see. I'm feeling the need for a dog.

I'm a softie too.  I didn't watch the video for fear of crying too late at night.  I have had many shelter dogs in my life and each was a joy.  Every dog I have ever been owned by spent their entire lives in my care.  My horse was also a rescue of sorts...I paid "bail money" to get him out of a very bad situation.

Good morning Mike. Thank you for reminding the audience that shelters have very special animals waiting to love.

I have one & it's been the biggest blessing I've had in my life. I help as much as I can with our local shelter Almost Home Foundation for anyone that would like to adopt in my area.

This year they have given a new life to 10,000 total pets which I think is a great success.

Mike, Both our Chihuahuas are rescue dogs.  And it certainly wasn't them, but idiot humans that caused the problems that put them there.  They've been fantastic additions to our home and and female Chi is a certified pet therapy dog that goes to hospice, the VA hospital and a senior center with Liz to visit patients and families.
