It's hard to believe that we're already heading into August. But there's still so much summertime fun to be had. This weekend's highlights include a night of Shakespeare, a few art festivals, a pool party, beach camp out and cooking demonstrations at the Botanic Garden! What fun!

"As You Like It"
July 30 – Aug. 2: 7 pm
Mellody Farm Nature Preserve, 350 N. Waukegan Rd., Lake Forest

Check out the Citadel Theatre's special outdoor presentation of Shakespeare's "As You Like It", a pastoral comedy that follows its heroine Rosalind as she flees persecution in her uncle's court to find safety and, eventually love in the Forest of Arden. Evanston LakeShore Arts Festival
Aug. 1 & 2: 11 am – 6 pm
Dawes Park, Sheridan Road at Church St, Evanston

Since 1973, the Lakeshore Arts Festival has taken place the first weekend in August on Evanston's stunning, historic lakefront. The festival showcases fine art by over 100 artists in 11 categories. While browsing and buying the artwork, you can listen to live jazz, blues, folk, bluegrass, rock, baroque and indie pop music. Be sure to make a bid or two at the silent art auction, and bring your children or grandchildren to the popular Children's Craft Tent. Poolside Music & Munch
Aug. 1: 4:30 pm – 6:30 pm
Hidden Creek AquaPark, 1220 Frederickson Place, Highland Park

Bring the family and join friends for a poolside BBQ and leave the at home. Work up an appetite racing down the water slides or splashing in the zero depth entry. The aroma from the barbecue will draw you out of the pool for a treat (available for purchase). Eat your meal and relax to live music by Danny Lemmon and the Big Squeeze. $3 resident/$6 nonresident. Glencoe Arts Festival
Aug. 1 & 2: 10 am – 5 pm
Downtown Glencoe, Green Bay Road and Park Avenue, Glencoe

The 7th annual Glencoe Festival of Art returns to return to Glencoe with a wide-variety of arts and cultural entertainment. Free and open to the public, the Glencoe Festival of Art will showcase the work of more than 110-juried artists from across the country in a variety of mediums, including painting, photography, ceramics, glass, jewelry, and wood. Kids also have the opportunity to participate in art scavenger hunts throughout the weekend. Food will be on sale from local restaurants and American rock duo and local favorite, Cirrus Falcon, will provide musical entertainment.
