How Not To Sell Your Home-

There is a lot written about the best ways for How To Sell Your Home.  Tips and tricks aplenty we've all heard. Make it sparkle.  Make it Pop. Give it that "wow" factor. But sometimes we need to think in the opposite, a  little reverse psychology can really make one think of the things to do by focusing on How Not To Sell Your Home:  

 How Not To Sell Your Home

Never clean your home;

Do not paint the outside; 

Don't pay attention to the front door hardware, light fixture, or the ease to open the door;

Do not pick up after your pets;

Don't cook foods with no lingering odors;

Don't replace burned out bulbs;

Don't do your laundry;

Don't dump the trash or put it IN the bin;

Don't mow your lawn or pull weeds;

Don't shovel the sidewalk;How Not To Sell Your Home

Don't clean the mirrors;

Leave all the lights off;

Shutter all the windows;

Don't fix drippy faucets;

Don't corral pets when you leave;

Don't clean the litter box;

Don't remove personal photos;

Don't make obvious repairs or maintenance;

 

And whatever you do, don't store extra keys, valuables, prescriptions, or identity sensitive information before a showing.

 

When you receive an offer:

 

Don't respond to your agent in a timely manner;

Don't begin to organize your move;

Don't begin eliminating items that could be donated or sold;

Don't notify your utlity providers;

Don't forward your mail;

Don't gather all the extra keys and label them; and

Whatever you do, don't maintain the home until you close escrow. How Not to Sell Your Home might be some of the best advice you'll receive!

A lot of these things are on my pet peeves list.  I particularly like the client that has an all season holiday tree and they change the decorations for the season.

HA!! What a great way to present the daily aspects of keeping your home in showing condition. Sometimes going to the other extreme can really make a lasting impression. This should be mandatory reading for your sellers!
