Carlsbad, California (Village by the Sea) is a charming city located on the Pacific Coast, 35 miles north of downtown San Diego and 87 miles south of Los Angeles.
History
Carlsbad began in the 1880’s as a whistle stop for the new California Southern Railroad. It was known as Fraizer’s station at the time, but was renamed “Carlsbad” when Mr. Fraizer discovered his hand dug well produced mineral water equal in content to one of Europe’s most popular health spa, Karlsbad, Bohemia. The well still produces mineral water to this day.
Today, Carlsbad has grown to a population of over 112,000 people and occupies more than 39.1 square acres, with 37.7 square acres of land and 1.4 square acres of water. The majority of which is contained within 3 lagoons and 1 lake. Carlsbad is a great place to live, play and work. Its 7 miles of picturesque Coastline is a favorite of locals and tourists alike.

Neighborhood Information
Carlsbad is divided into 4 quadrants, with El Camino Real the divider between east and west and Palomar Airport Road the divider between north and south. Each quadrant has its own zip code and distinctive characteristics.
92008 –The North West quadrant of Carlsbad includes the Oceanfront, the downtown “Village” and “Old Carlsbad”. It was the first part of Carlsbad to be settled. Homes range from the 1950's cottages and bungalows to elegant mansions on the hill overlooking the ocean. Some brand new homes are currently under construction. It is also home to Hosp Grove Park, a grove of trees over 100 years old and now dedicated for recreational use, in addition to the Buena Vista and Agua Hedionda Lagoons – This area is located west of El Camino Real and north of Palomar Airport Road.
92009 – The southwest quadrant of the city features several newer master-planned communities set amongst rolling hills, golf courses, Alga Norte Park and open spaces. It is located east of El Camino Real and south of Palomar Airport Rd. It includes the La Costa neighborhood, which in 1965 gave its name to the Gold Medal Golf Resort, La Costa Resort and Spa, now known as the Omni La Costa Resort and Spa.
92010 – North East quadrant – newer subdivisions including Calavara Hills, Mystic Point. New homes are currently being built at Robinson Ranch, near the new high school. Some of the older homes have great views of snow-capped mountains in the winter and larger yards.
92011 – South West quadrant – Home of Park Hyatt Golf Resort at Aviara (formally known as Four Seasons Aviara. Aviara is a highly sought after neighborhood featuring fine homes and condos. Also includes Bataquitos Lagoon and Oceanfront mobile home communities.
