We Had A Little Rain In Holiday FL

We have had rain for the last week and a half. Not just a shower or two. We have had RAIN. My area has gotten over 6 inches in the last few days. Not too bad, no flooding.

But Holiday, FL just a few miles from us, has received over 13". Lots of flooding and many people moved out of their homes because they had no power, no sewage, nothing.  The news showed the streets in that area: people were swimming, children were splashing, kayaks and small John boats were floating around taking their owners belongings to a temporary shelter. Thousand Oaks also had flooding along with some other areas.

We Had A Little Rain In Holiday FLYesterday was another rainy day, it was one continuous monsoon after another. My little pond actually had white caps from the winds.  Today is another rainy day.

When will it end? Our weather people tell us that we may have a bit of sunshine by Tuesday or maybe Wednesday.  I sure hope so.

Pasco County is trying to be declared a Disaster Area which will make it easier for people in these flooded areas to get loans to make repairs. And the county will be able to improve some of our drainage system; which really needs it.  And we need road repairs after all the water sat on them. Gov. Scott toured and said that hard work will bring us back to normal. No word about the Disaster relief.

Tropical Storm Debbie back in 2012 left a few inches more that we've had so far but didn't seem to move so fast and cover so much inland territory.

I love rain but this is getting tiring and we developed a leak in one of our transom windows in the livingroom. Craig has been working on it in between storms.

AND I'm getting cabin fever.

Toni- we heard about all of the rains when we were on our trip.  Since returning, we've had a good mixture of rain and cloudy days but nothing like what you on the west coast have experienced. Bring back the sunshine!

We had a great big monsoon storm blow through my area a few nights ago. It dumped a TON of rain but typical Arizona monsoon season, it was here one minute and gone the next.

We have had some monsoonal weather here, two weekends ago, and one that hit Los Angeles County and caused some flash flooding and left humidity with it both times. We have been promised an El Niño year.  Wishing you a great week. A

Toni: It has been the same here. We also had a leak in one of our windows that my hubby got squared away last week. With the barrage we took the last couple of days it held up fine. Today was sunny and hot!

Rain is good, it really cleans the earth and leaves it smelling great outside!  We don't get much here, but I always appreciate it when we do, unless it keeps me from doing something outside that I had planned, haha.
