What do you love about where you live?
I woke up this morning saying, "Another hot day", ugh! Then I realized, it wasn't too long ago I was complaining about how cold it was and I couldn't wait for summer.
After stepping outside and smelling the fresh air, starting up my pool and watering my garden, I realized how fortunate I really am. Fortunate that I live in such a wonderful state, Massachusetts. I am living in one of the few locations where we are able to enjoy the beauty of each season for a pretty even 3 months each. I don't think I would appreciate one without the other.
Our winters have ranged from a couple light snow falls to horrible blizzards that cover our cars and shut down our roadways. The children have hours of fun sledding, building snowmen, ice fishing, riding snowmobiles and skiing our beautiful mountains. We get to warm up to the wood stoves with our hot chocolate and cozy blankets.
After a long cold winter, we all start to get excited when we don't have to throw on layers of clothing. Everything starts to come back to life in our gardens. The sweet smell of blossoming flowers takes over the air. Although, those of us with allergies might not enjoy that part quite as much as others but it is a beautiful sight.
Now it's flip flop time! Summer in Massachusetts is always fun! Time to take out those bathing suits and hit the beautiful Cape Cod beaches. The sand is amazingly soft and the beach bars are now open. We have Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard and every beach that runs up and down the Cape to pack a cooler and get our skin golden brown. I love it!!!
Last but not least, my absolute favorite season, Fall! How can you not appreciate the magnificent, vibrant foliage? It's as if everything comes to life as it dies. It's just breath taking! We have apple orchards and pumpkin picking, hay rides and corn mazes for the children. The comforting aroma of apple pies fills our homes. The colorful Mums line our gardens as we rake the mounds of leaves for the kids to jump in. I love it!
These are the things I love about the beautiful state of Massachusetts.
