Here we are swinging into August already and getting so close to the 450th celebration. Most questions about when, where and how can be answered on www.StAugustine-450.com/Celebrate450. No doubt about it – St. Augustine is pulling out all the stops. Be there or be square! The king and queen of Spain are coming but they will miss the celebrations as they are coming later in the month. Too bad for them!
Recently, a Spanish artist, Pablo Hugo Rezada Vena, commissioned by his home town of Aviles, flew here (first time on a plane!) and spent almost two weeks designing and creating an obelisk, reflecting the original monument in the plaza. It will be one of 25 that will grace our city in different places. This is such an interesting project, created and spearheaded by the Compassionate St. Augustine organization.
A photographer that I have been working with and who created the video for my website (staugustinehomesforsale.com), takes amazing pictures and reworks them into almost a painting-like format. All kinds of things can be created from these photos 0- how about a shower curtain with a picture of you on it? I love it! His name is CW# Hooper and his website is http://fineartamerica.com/profiles/charles--w-hooper.html. He has collaborated on a film which has been picked for the first round for the Sundance film festival, called” The Box”, a one-man film about a homeless man who lives in a box. It was conceived and stars a well-known local actor, Lee Weaver, who will perform his show one last time – he says – on august 8th at Dos Coffee and Wine, 300 san Marco Ave. at 7pm. We wish him luck!
