Worrying Is Never The Answer

“When I look back on all these worries, I remember the

story of the old man who said on his deathbed that

he had a lot of trouble in his life, most of which

had never happened”

Sir Winston Churchill 1874 - 1965, British Prime Minister

As I see it . . . . . . .

Worrying is never the answer

A person that worries . . . . Is worrying about conditions that may . . . . or may not be real . . . . and in many cases will never come about.

Worrying can make a person shut down . . . . and become consumed with what there worrying about. Their focus will become misdirected . . . . and their time misused without creating any positive results.

Worrying won’t solve a problem . . . . or give you the right answers. What it does is create anxiety . . . . stress . . . . and sleepless nights without providing very little . . . . or no redeeming value.

When you find a problem coming into your life instead of worrying about it . . . . put it into prospective. Is it a real problem . . . . and what impacts will it have on you?

Look at the problem . . . . and determine if it needs attention. When the problem needs to be dealt with . . . . deal with it. Find the best way to deal with the condition . . . . and come up with the best solution to the problem that you can.

Being proactive with a problem reduces the stress . . . . anxiety . . . .and will enable you to come up with the best solution. Worrying is never the answer . . . . won’t solve a problem . . . . being proactive does.

PS...now that I'm old enough to put his knowledge and wisdom to use, I use it. We agreed on a lot of things at the time, but I was too young to agree on some of the ideas, and I needed him to cut me loose, and he didn't want to. We disagreed and had some bad times, but always ended up coming back together.

Beautifully stated post Lou Ludwig ... Why does it take so long for some of us to realize the only thing worry gets us is more worry. I'm guilty of that on occasion. My Grandpa put it this way, "If it ain't one thing, it's two." That took me several years to understand... Great read and oh so true! Key phrases for me, after taking a look, does the problem really merit your attention... and worrying is never the answer.

Lou loved this one too, OK there are very few I do not love, have you thought of writing a book? On a side note this was what I trully loved from today's post:

Worrying won’t solve a problem . . . . or give you the right answers. What it does is create anxiety . . . . stress . . . . and sleepless nights without providing very little . . . . or no redeeming value.

Just to be clear I sleep like a log until Diane wakes me up that I am snoring:), Endre

Good morning Lou. Unfortunately "worry" just doesn't turn off, it sucks out energy and doesn't give anything back.

Hi Lou Ludwig!  Yes, I totally agree - and as Joe mentioned, that negative energy really does take away from your ability to problem solve too.

I think worrying is a learned condition and it's hard to get out of there if it has become habit forming. To some degree, we should worry. In excess it's problematic.

Good morning Lou! I'm still learning how to shut the worry off. And you're right, we do shut down when we start to worry.

It's all about positive thinking. We are working now with a buyer who is so negative and worrisome about everything, that she didn't let the home inspector give me his card...

I try not to create problems in my head that may never actually happen, but it's human nature I think. The fewer problems we can create the better, just deal with what comes up is the best approach.

My mama taught me this lesson and it has served me well.  Once when I was about 10 years old, she was an hour late picking me up at school.  I was sure she had died in a car accident and by the time she arrived I was in a panic.

My wise mama had no time for such nonsense.  "If something bad happens," she told me, "you'll know soon enough."  And she was right, of course.
