I like $/sf. More rational. Often the appreciation change is avg price for same size home and $/sf  mid-point.  It is easy to relate to replacement cost....

Hi Bob, thanks for reading my post....and yes prices are on the rise in Socal, including Van Nuys (my home town). It's sad housing gets so expensive these days and blocks a lot of people from home ownership, buy, it's life as we know it...

Fortunately (or unfortunately for many would-be buyers), Socal market is real hot. Although sellers enjoy healthy mark-ups, many buyers do strugle to come up with enough down-payment or keep up with mortgage.

Hi Michele...you're right, in fact the entire region is overpriced. If you ask me, if you dropped these prices by half, it's still expensive. I guess it's the privilege of living in socal.
