Move-In Mania almost here

The newest members of the Auburn Family will soon be settling in on campus throughout the beginning of August for the fall semester.

To welcome new students to Auburn, the Department of University Housing and the Office of Residence Life will hold Move-In Mania 2015 Friday, Aug. 7, and Thursday, Aug. 13, at campus residence halls.

Kelsey Prather, who works with Move-In Mania, said they are looking for students, faculty, staff and members of the community to volunteer to assist movers, unloaders, greeters and refreshment providers.

"For the first time this year, both move-in days will occur during the work week so we are definitely relying more on the Auburn students, faculty, and staff as most of the community organizations will be unable to participate," said Prather. "Thankfully the majority of departments on campus are more than happy to have their members assist volunteers for move-in and even encourage department participation."

Movers will carry or push items from the unloading areas to the residence halls; greeters will welcome residents and families, monitor unloaded items and answer questions about parking, shopping, campus opportunities and dining; and refreshment providers will distribute water to volunteers and families.
Both days volunteers can register for times between 6 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. Time slots are available in 30-minute increments, so volunteers can sign up to work for as little or as much time as they prefer.

"This year we are providing Chick-Fil-A biscuits for the first time slot of volunteers since we kick off at 6:45 a.m. with the first parents and students arriving, " said Prather. "Water will be provided throughout the day, and we will also have snack boxes that will include options such as: fruit, granola bars, crackers, pretzels, etc."

Volunteers can register online, and will receive refreshments and a free T-shirt at the event. For questions or more information, emailmoveinmania@auburn.edu or look for updates on the Auburn University Move-In Mania Facebook page.

Hello Lise,  It is hard to believe the kids grow up so fast and that your daughter will soon be graduating from college. Guess we need to really appreciate all the time we have with them before they venture out into the world on their own.

Joe, it is hard to believe school is starting back again soon.  It felt like the Summer just flew by this year.
