Learning About Engineering - Egg Drop

Egg Drop

This week's science and engineering camp ended with an egg drop.  This is my little one trying to decide the best way to protect a raw egg from a two story drop.

So, what do you think would be the best way to protect this egg?

Wow - protecting a raw egg from a two story drop. . .That's a pretty tall order.  I think I'd probably try wrapping it in foam.  It would probably be a large fail.

Hmmm, that's a good question!  Maybe a good parachute attached to a foam casing around the egg.

I would tell him to put it under his pillow and don't drop it off of a 2 story building if he wants it in one piece!

I think the straws would work if there were enough of them (like 100) to displace the force of impact. Then again, part of the fun of this is learning what didn't work and seeing the egg splatter from a two-story fall.
