Bridgewater Country Fair in Bridgewater, CT.
This week we’re hearing all about the famous Iowa State Fair in Des Moines, Iowa replete with presidential candidates, rides in Trump’s helicopter, 600-lb butter cow, pork chops on a stick and so on. Can’t promise you any of the above, but we have something better because it’s very local, of a more manageable size and can be accomplished as a day trip from New York City or surrounding areas.
Our very own local Bridgewater Country Fair is an annual event in Bridgewater, CT, barely 75 miles or about 90 minutes from Manhattan. It’s an easy, in fact very pretty drive. The weather is promising.

What's in Store:
This link is to the daily fair schedule at the Bridgewater Country Fair. In addition to the traditional livestock, produce, arts and crafts displays and competitions, as well as music and food, here are some highlights of a few events that might particularly interest the younger set: how special is it to watch little ones competing in their own Children’s Pedal Tractor Pull, or participate in a pet parade (all pets welcome!) or a pie-eating contest?
This year at the Bridgewater Country Fair there will be 32 contests in all. You don’t need to be a farmer to participate. As a special delight, the newest fire engines from Connecticut and neighboring New York will be on hand to enjoy and examine.
Again, the Bridgewater Country Fair is great for all ages. The best part - it’s close and a “manageable” size, easily doable in one day, to everyone’s delight. This year, give your kids a special country treat, which is practically “next door”. Enjoy!
