I'm thankful to be in a profession that with the exception of actually showing properties, can be handled anywhere there is a cell signal or an internet connection. That is a real plus for Realtors.
Most of the "business hour" time, I AM in our office but occasionally there will be a weekday that I'll handle other things. Our friend of almost 30 years (and our current MoonDancer Realty office landlord) told me that one of our neighbors in Dillsboro noticed we weren't in the office on Tuesday and hoped everything was okay. He told them, "they're probably just bringing their garden in".
He was right.
We've worked, in Robin William's words "full tilt Bozo" on a good number of contracts all year and managed to get six 4x12 raised beds in and a garden planted. As it just so happened, one of those contracts closed Monday and there's a few days before anything else needs immediate attention so, yep, on Tuesday we decided to work from home and bring the garden in.
Just as there is "time is of the essence" in a contract, there is also time is of the essence in a garden. All our back breaking, sweat inducing and insect swatting efforts paid off and we literally had a crop to bring in. Those things are perishables and it was starting to feel like the critters of the woods and sky were circling for their pickings.
In between the harvesting of the final cucumbers, digging for potatoes, picking beans and various squashes as well as some final weeding for those things still growing, I answered easily a dozen real estate calls on the phone. It's a good life!
So, I managed to remove old plant debris completely from one bed and planted a cool weather crop. In a couple of months we hope to be enjoying peas, broccoli, cauliflower, two kinds of lettuce and spinach. No doubt, there will be another mid-week "day off" to harvest that bed as well.
There is something completely delicious about a mid-week day off. Did I just make a joke?
Anyway, I'm headed outside in a minute to dig more potatoes, remove a fallen limb from the driveway that got knocked down in last night's storm, go pick up my computer from the Geek Squad hospital and get into the MoonDancer Realty office. Never fear, real estate consumers. We're always at the office unless we're gone...and we're always ready to help you out with your real estate needs, even if we're in the garden!
