State recognition includes the Green School Award and Maryland School of Character. River Hill's population
is culturally diverse with a majority of the student body enrolled in college preparatory and technology courses.
River Hill has a comprehensive program with offerings in college preparatory, business, technological and special programs for learning disabled students. Recognizing the difference in students’ abilities, needs and goals, teachers design instruction to provide all students the opportunity to achieve their greatest potential.
Student performance on the high school assessments places River Hill among the highest in the state. Student participation in the advanced placement testing program also places our school among the top high schools in the nation.
In addition to academics, athletics and activities are also a vibrant component of student life at River Hill. For some, the extracurricular experience is an extension of the classroom, providing students with opportunities to apply their learning in real-world endeavors. For others, it is a chance to explore interests that might not be addressed in their studies.
