This is a Frame-Up!

By
Real Estate Agent with Dove Realty Inc.

Finding original artwork isn't that hard, but getting it framed is another story. It's not that easy to do yourself and it's ridiculously expensive to have it done professionally UNTIL NOW

Richard Lawson, one of my favorite Seattle photographers kindly supplied me with prints of the images you see here. I found the frames, with boring pictures, at Marshalls for $39 each. I carefully took them apart, popped in Richard's gorgeous prints, and voila! Instant original artwork, professionally matted and framed; for $39 a pop you can't beat that!

Roberta: Great to see you again and and I can't thank you enough for the introduction to Nadeau. I'm taking my clients down there this weekend.

Julia: I bought a rather expensive mat cutter (the cheap ones are a pain) but I've used it so much it has paid for itself.

Gene: Thanks for stopping by. It's always good to hear from a fellow Realtor from one of my  favorite places.

Leesa: I wish that I  would have though of it before. I don't want to think of how much money I've spent at the local frame shop.

Love the artwork Susan, and especially love that you used a local Seattle artist... that is such a nice touch!

The art work really does something for the decor. Excellent work Susan! Now, of anyone can find something for $39.00 in a 36" X 48", let me know.... been meaning to frame a poster for my daughter for the last couple of years, but couldn't see paying $350 for a frame for a $40 poster.

Julianna: Thanks. I use a lot of Richards' work.

Jackie: Don't give up. I've seen some really big ugly pictures at Marshalls that are just begging to be retrofitted.

Terrylynn: Thanks, I've been tweaking since I was in the crib.

Jennifer: I somehow missed your comment. The fact that it's snowing in Seattle on April 19th has put my brain into overload.

Susan, that is so clever!  I've been having good luck at a local craft shop that has frames with mats.  Are you shoveling snow still out there?

Patricia: Micheals is a pretty good resource, especially when they have a sale or coupon. It actually snowed for 3 days here Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Thank god it didn't stick. Whenever we have more than 1/2 an inch of snow on the ground, Seattle comes to a screeching halt.

Carol: I love black and white prints! Good luck.

Kim: There's a link to his website in the blog. I use a lot of his work.

Cindy: The frame, the glass and the matting for 39 bucks! You can't beat that with a stick.

Susan ~ Fab idea and it lokks great!  Uh, now to segway...love the table too!  I am desipirately looking for some upscale-looking consoles for a tight budget.  Don't know if that was the case with your table, but it triggered an idea that I am going to see if I can get to work.  So, if I may ask, where did you get your table?  Is it 2 stands with a topper?

Thanks!

Terrylynn: thanks! Those prints seem to work just about anywhere I put them.

Susan: This table is exactly what you've been looking for! It is nothing more than a hollow core door (without a doorknob hole) painted with high gloss black paint. Then you just plop it on 2 tray tables. The tray tables in this picture are part of a bamboo set that I've had for years.

It's cheap, light, easy to transport and it works with almost any style. If you look through my blogs you'll see that I use them over and over.

You paid $39 per frame? Maybe I misread something, did that also include the price of the prints?

Most professional frame shops have pre-matted frames in standard sizes for far less. Often as little as $10.

Try Aaron Brothers for example. Of course it all depends on size and frame type but there are bargains to be had and a wide variety of choices.

Good luck. :)

Bryce: I shop at AAron Brothers, Michaels and every other conceivable place I can for frames and I have never been able to duplicate this type of framing for $10. These frames are 23x27 and they include a double mat with an insert, glass and backing. If I could I'd be all over it.
