A Home Inspection is a serious thing. You hire a Home Inspector to view the condition of your proposed home and report to you an honest, thorough opinion of the homes condition on the day of the inspection. A house is a big investment! Wouldn't you want to know the truth about what the condition of all the separate systems in the house were before you sign on the dotted line? I get calls all the time from people that are price shopping, trying to save $25 on their Home Inspection. I can tell really quickly when I get those calls, I usually give them my price and tell them to be careful who they choose to inspect their new baby cause saving $25 now could cost you thousands in the long run!
I know what most Home Inspectors in this area charge, some are higher, some are lower. Most people do not realize that inspecting a home properly is a lot of work! Ultimately, a good, thorough Home Inspection depends heavily on the individual inspectors own effort. The big box corporate inspection companies are no better then the inspector they send out to do the job. I pride myself on being thorough, I take my time and do the very best I can... every time! I'm a little old school, the guy that does the inspection also does your report, nothing is lost in the translation! So, the "price shoppers" may save $25... pay 300K for the house, save $25 on the inspection... wow, what a bargain! I'm sure they will get what they paid for.
