Jacqueline

Thanks for stopping by and taking time out of your day to read my post.  My intent is to put a smile on your face.  Hopefully you’ll go away with some information you may have forgotten about or did not know.  Now sit back and enjoy the post for the day.

Depending on what record you want to believe Jacqueline was born either in 1918 or 1921.  She claims 1921 but other argue it was 1918.  Regardless records indicate she was an intelligent but unmotivated student.  Her IQ tests were recorded around 140.  Her mother wanted her to become a writer but she wanted to become an actress.  This as you may think caused a rocky relationship between her and her mother.  Anyway she acted in several roles before the writing bug caught her.  Her first book was an instant success and her second one became a best seller and it was also made into a movie.  She went on to write two more best sellers before her death in 1974.  So can you tell me what her name was and what was the title of her books?  Well her name was Jacqueline Susann and she wrote “Valley of the Dolls” along with “The Love Machine” and “Once is Not Enough”.

James- I remember reading that she wanted to become an actress.  Glad she listened to her mother because we are the beneficiaries of her writing gift.

James, I remember "Valley of the Dolls" was a huge hit book and flick when I was 10 years old. All the parents and "adults" were talking about how risque it was and a few years I saw it on cable and had a good laugh.

Excellent trivia.

Oh, man, thanks for putting Gotta get off this merry-go-round in my head. Jacqueline Susann was never considered a good writer, though, and she was widely ridiculed. Just sayin'.

Interesting information James; however, I was never attracted enough to seek out her books nor see the movie. But now I know a little about Jacqueline Susann.
