It actually said I only have 35 characters left, because the REAL title should be.......

Why Do You PARTIALLY Fill Out an OnLine Form

If You REALLY Want The Requested Information?

Now, I've done this...and so have you. And so has probably everyone else.

It looks great. Some FREE thing, or this or that....so in you go! You are excited and you start typing and then there it is.....BAM....

And you FREAK out! Right? They want my name? My email? My Phone Number?

Ah Heck NO!  And you run...or at least move onto the next site that might not want your left arm.

But you see, real estate websites that do this ARE a bit different. We hope to work with you to Buy or Sell a home. In order for us to do either, we sort of need to know either WHO you are, or WHERE you live.

I currently work with a lead-type generation company. I'm not calling them out by name, simply because I'm not. It's a great system....although I've yet to get a concrete lead (take that as meet with a potential Seller) since I started with them.

Not to say it's their bad...but I get all these partial leads. Meaning, Page One on the site asks you if you would like to know what your home value is....well OF COURSE you do! So you fill in your address.

BAM....next screen and we want to contact you. Well, DUH....if you want to know the value of your home, we need to be ABLE to contact you. But you say.....Ah Heck NO....and off you click.

But wait? I thought you WANTED to know the value of your home?

Well, I did until you wanted to know WHO wanted to know.

Never fear, my system give me that "partial lead"....that address you typed in on Page One. So I can go off and scour the tax records and FIND who you are. I have to snail mail (GASP) you information, but at least I got something, right? But in today's love-of-technology society, that follow up would be MUCH easier, and quicker if you would of given me that email address. But no, You ran off!

So I guess my question is, did you not think I would want to reach out to you and see if you had any questions about the market, or learn more about YOUR home so I could give you an accurate value?

Ok, don't mind me...I'm off to search tax records so I can send you the info you REALLY wanted!

One of the things I have concern with is the number of "fun" quizzes that show up on Facebook.  Most are ok, but those that ask you to logon using your Facebook account from the quiz website is a deal breaker for me.

Tire kickers...one or two calls  to them and scratch them.  Internet leads are tough

I get a chuckle almost every day when I get mail that says:

Where is this house???

I'm with Lenn, I get the questions about when am I going to add more pictures, and then they give me invalid contact information. I would love to tell them it's not my listing, and by the way, the house is already under contract, so I really don't think anyone should care what the pictures look like. But since they didn't bother to give me a good e-mail address or phone number, I'll just have to laugh about it. I still get a lot of George Bush e-mails, but never a Barack Obama. I have no idea why.
