Alas, there still are some who prefer a handshake Lease agreement for the farm land.

We are talking potential for thousands and thousands of dollars here folks!!

If you are one of those who insist on Verbal Leases...or you are Storm Brewing over the Heartland Mike McCann Nebraska Land Brokerinheriting the land and it is on a Verbal Lease...understand that Sept 1 is the last day to notify the other party that you want changes to the Lease.

Any later is too late until the 2017 crop season is negotiated next August of 2016 for Verbal Leases.

That sounds like very sound advice, Mike!  I can't imagine leasing land with only a handshake.  But, this is California, and we are a little more regulated and controlled than other places in the country.  That being said, I'm not a farmland specialist, so don't know the practices of handshake vs. written leasing in this state.
