How do farm-free eggs, meat, cheese and honey sound to you? What about fresh fruits and veggies grown by local farmers? You can find it all at the Gray Street Farmer's Market, and that's just the beginning of all the incredible offerings at this unique street market.

On Gray Street

The 400 block of Gray Street will be closed on August 27 so you can shop at will. If you get hungry and don't want to eat your ingredients raw, no problem. Grab a burger from Dreamcatcher Farm or get a tasty sandwich made with locally-grown ingredients from Kassidy's Kackle House. You can buy breads and sweet stuff from Cake Flour.

Gray Street Farmers Market

And that's just the food. The farmer's market is full of non-edible, handmade offerings as well. Buy soaps and other crafted items while you're there. There are many different vendors available, and they sell everything from fresh-made jams to canned goods. You can even use your debit card to buy your goodies. The Gray Street Farmer's Market was started to bring fresh, locally-grown food and other items to the downtown community, but it's something for everyone in Louisville to enjoy.

Back in Time

The Gray Street Farmer's market is within walking distance of the famous Old Louisville neighborhood. This is one of the most beautiful collection of turn-of-the-century homes you'll find anywhere in the entire country. Walk just a few blocks in this neighborhood, and you'll see why it's considered a tourist attraction.

The ornate historic buildings are decorated with wrought-iron details, incredible stonework, pretty landscaping and of course, climbing ivy. You'll see it all in this part of town: stately townhomes for single families, large mansions converted into chic apartments, large family homes and block after block of shaded streets that end in picturesque courtyards. Old Louisville is so beautiful, people hold their weddings here.

See why so many people love to live here this August. After you walk through the farmer's market, take the chance to see this one-of-a-kind part of Louisville. You may have trouble making yourself leave.
