Why Tom runs in the morning? I used to work with one of the area’s top agents. He’s been a top agent for decades. Each morning he would come in all energized having just run a few miles to keep his body in tip top shape (he’s in his mid 50’s). It was rather impressive, and each time I saw it I’d say to myself you really need to get back to the morning run.
Fast forward, I’ve moved to a new company and this morning I had to meet a customer at their house at 8:30 and while I was standing there I saw Tom run by and that’s when I had the ah ha moment. Tom has always been the master of stats, values, solds, days on the market. He knew the inventory and it served him well.
Today I realized Tom runs his farm. When a sign goes up he sees it, when one come down he sees it, the same for under contract. Above and beyond he runs at a time when many folks are pulling out of the driveway. There’s a lot of waving going on.
One day when I was going to put brochures out on all the doors of an area where I was going to do an open house, Tom had mentioned that was something he had never done. I’m not so sure his morning jog isn’t strikingly similar to my brochure handouts.
If you could pick a farm and really pound on that farm for 34 years, wouldn’t you think a morning run or evening walk might just be some of the most effective farming out there?
Hat’s off to Tom, this week I’m going to start running my small circle of a neighborhood every morning.
