We've got plenty of time left to enjoy balmy nights and beautiful sunny days. The one regret we won't have is cutting our lawns once a week. Growing up we had neighbors that with a little mathematical ingenuity developed an automatic grass cutting system which worked well for the sprawl of suburbia. You need some rope and a self -propelled lawner to make it happen. Each revolution around the center stake, which connected to the mower via the rope, would cut one reel's worth of lawn upon each pass. You might have 5 or 6 of these circles laid out on your lot and only have to check on the lawnmower's position once in a while. Like when the commercial breaks happen during the game.
In today's World there's probably an ordinance against unattended mowing although I never remember seeing the mower break free of its bonds and terrorize the neighborhood. I do recall watching in wonder as it dutifully did its job round and round the yard. Once you see it going on for more than a minute the intrigue is over. If it's something that you wish to try I recommend overlapping the circles and cutting in opposite directions every othe cut. It will put some furrows in the lawn if you're not careful. I am surprised that there's no Roomba outdoor version put into service yet. Naybe I just haven't read about it!
Let's get back to those Lazy-Hazy-Crazy Days of Summer by Nat King Cole. Watch the video below for another way to make that chore of mowing the lawn a little less strenuous. Compliments and warm thoughts while we enjoy the final days of the good old Summertime,
