We have remodeled a condo in Ormond Beach. Our first Open House brought a lot of owners of other units in the building. They all wanted to see what we did, and see if they could use it when remodeling their condos.
One of the things that surprised every one of them was that we created a closet to house a washer and dryer, where there was no drain. In this condo originally built in the 70s, they did not provide any space for washer and dryer, and many owners added them later, but because of the location of the drain, they all have them in the kitchen.
A rather small kitchen did not win, so when they saw that we put the washer & dryer in a location, where there was no drain, their jaws dropped.
- Is washer/dryer working?
- Of course.
- How did you do it?
No, we did not cut the floor, we couldn’t touch it. It is reinforced concrete and you can’t chisel it. We simply put the pump, and ran the pipe in the hung ceiling and it drains in the kitchen, so it is working fine.
But this is our business, so, I told them it was Wi Fi. And they looked at me with blank faces. And then I joked that nowadays you do not need to be wired to use Internet, so why couldn’t you use Wi Fi for draining?
Well, it was simply a joke…There are too many things that were done there equally if not more important, and until we have serious interest, I did not want to go into details of what and how we did it. After all this is our business, we spent about $100K on remodeling and there was a lot of thought, time and effort ...
There were a few owners, who were also real estate agents. We had quite a few showings and I kept saying it was Wi Fi. And a few days later I overheard one of the agents showing a unit telling her customer, that there was no drain, but it was working using Wi Fi.
There are, probably, a few agents out there, who seriously believe that now you can drain using Wi Fi.
Why don't we have “Real Estate Blondes” group?
