Chirp! Chirp! Where is That Chirping Coming From?

Where is that chirping coming from?

Chirp!  Chirp!  I heard something chirping in my car and I couldn't figure out where it was coming from.  I'd never heard my phone or iPad chirp, but I thought I may have accidentally pressed a button to cause it to happen.

I turned my phone and iPad off.  The chirping continued.  A chirp every minute on the minute.  I called the mechanic.  Over the phone diagnosis was not successful.  Hmmmm.  Chirp!  Ugh.

I drove the mechanic, Sundwrenched Motor Werks and parked.  Chirp!  By this time, I was pretty convinced the issue had nothing to do with my car and that I was about to make a big fool of myself.  I tore through my car and found the culprit.

There it was, right in my realtor supply kit.  A carbon monoxide detector in need of a battery.  Part of my kit is a carbon monoxide detector in case I need it for the appraisal if the seller hasn't had a chance to get one yet.

I did end up walking into the shop and told the mechanics I found the chirping.  They were kind to me and any laughing that took place was behind my back and that's okay with me.

My next stop: Buy batteries.

I was about to lose my mind.  Every minute on the minute....chirp!  The source of the chirp had to be found or something bad might have happened.  😬

Oh that is so funny.  Oh and I got the chirping noise last night in my apartment and had to do the same thing.  Thank goodness I had 1 extra battery that fit.

I was awakened this morning not by a chriping, but a full blown alarm from my fire alarm.  Apparently, it was battery time.  Ugh.  So hard to get back to sleep.

I have beat one off the ceiling with a broom handle when Donald worked nights and I couldn't find a battery when it started chirping in the middle of the night.

MIKE ROCK - Thanks for that very important qualifier.

Debbie Gartner - The extra battery is essential.

Otherwise, you'll have to use the broom handle technique like Tammy Lankford.

Chris Ann Cleland - They don't think the chirping is enough?  They have to scare the crap out of you with a full blown alarm?  Holy cow!

Glad you found the culprit before the dealership charged you hundreds of dollars for the effort.

Good morning Jill. I can't believe it, but better than a bird in the car.

Jill, that would be a bit embarrassing, but glad you found it.  I am sure it was quite annoying!

Thankfully, I have nice, local, trustworthy mechanic Gabe Sanders.   So true about a typical dealership experience though!

You're so right Sheila Anderson!  I'm lucky it was a CO detector.  We've had the occasional bird fly into the house, though.  They end up flying into closed windows trying to get out.  I secure the dogs, close the window coverings and tape black trash bags over windows without blinds and then open the doors.  So far, all the birds have found their way out of the Murty house unharmed.

Joan Cox - Every minute on the minute chirping can drive a person mad.  Humiliation would have been a totally acceptable option had I not found the source.
