Do you know what a WDO is?

By
Real Estate Agent 0225218019

I have a house under contract and the home inspection was done last week.  One of the items that the inspector noted was wood rot due to moisture around three of the doors.  I was chatting with the listing agent and mentioned that the wood rot caused by moisture would be covered by the WDO.  He asked, "What did you say?"  Again, I repeated that it would be covered under the WDO.  When he asked me about it again, I said it would be covered under the termite and moisture inspection per the contract.  Then I explained that in Florida we call it a WDO which is an anocronym for Wood Destroying Organisms.  He had never heard it called that.

Would you have known what a WDO is?

William Feela,  You make a very good point.  I guess we sometimes need to take a little more time to explain things.

Lou Ludwig,  There is wood rot around the doors from moisture.  It should be covered under the termite and moisture clause in the contract.

Sharon Parisi,  In our contracts, wood rot due to moisture damage is covered under what we call the "remediation limit", along with title issues and well and septic issues.

I never heard this abbreviation as well. We just toss all those damages under termite term( since found usually during a termite inspection). WDO sounds like a special code:)

Good Monday morning Sybil. I see WDO's rather frequently here in the middle Tennessee area.

I come across the "wood destroying organisms" pharase, but I almost never use the abbreviation WDO, sounds like woodo.

In AZ, I sometimes say just Termite report.
