Missing Orlando Realtor FOUND....

Missing Orlando Realtor FOUND....

Yes, fellow ActiveRainers, I'm alive and well.  And no, I haven't really been missing missing- just missing from here for the better part of the year so far.

I never planned on being away so long, quite frankly.  As some might remember, I had had a long-held philosophical opposition to Facebook.  I finally relented and joined the dang site at the very end of December (and when I say very end, I mean New Year's Eve or very close to it) and even posted on here and mentioned something along the lines of "this won't keep me away from ActiveRain".

Riiiight.  To say that "that hasn't worked out too well" would be an understatement- and I can surely see how other long-time contributors on this site who seemed to simply disappear may have done so in favor of pursuing other interests as well- be that other sites on which to post, giving up blogging in favor of time with one's family or something else.  When you're "in the fire", it's a bit tough to see how hot it is, I suppose- and I've come to realize that whether it's ActiveRain, Facebook, Twitter or any other social media site one might enjoy, taking a step back isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Funny that it took leaving here for a while and getting bogged down on a totally new site to see things a bit more clearly, though- and I can't say I'm out of the woods just yet.  I'm in the middle of a campaign for our Orlando Regional Realtor Association (ORRA)'s Treasurer position for 2016, and the social media presence and networking that that requires does precious little toward helping me free myself from social media, you know?

So... I'm still working to get back on here and away from a Facebook site I never really intended to patronize- and I welcome any suggestions folks might have to offer.  Have you been burned out?  Are you one who decided to switch things up- yet found the grass no greener in other pastures (but it was just as high)?  Please advise...

For the time being, file this as my being "once lost and now found"- I think someone wrote a song about that.

Dennis - good to see you come up for air.  Nothing wrong with Facebook though.  I say using the right social media for your business is the right thing to do.  Hope it is working and but looking forward to seeing more of you.

Hi, Grant:  Thank you kindly for dropping by, and for your comment and kind words.  The thing that pushed me to use Facebook at all was folks telling me I HAD to have a business page on there.  I said "OK, I'll get one"- but then I learned that it's not possible to have a business page without first having a personal page.  And that's where it all began- down the rabbit hole I went, so to speak!
