Craigslist

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Greater Seattle
Man I love Craigslist. I see they are expanding to another 120 cities. That's great but I always wondered how they made money. Aparently they do charge for listings in certain cites. Just not mine. Is that the goal or will or will it remain free forever? I hope so. But then again, I thought the Sonics would be safe in Seattle even though an out of towner bought them. We'll have to see what the future holds. It's great that you can post anything on there. Last year, when I moved, I put up all kinds of stuff. Not for the money, but because the place I was buying was smaller and I did not have the room. It took no time at all. Now, when I sell a house and people say something like that to me I refer them over and for whatever reason they think I'm one of those smart techie people. Not the case, I just know how to turn on the internet.

Howdy Cole! You're so right! I had a client in back 2005 that wouldn't list with me because I had never heard of Craigslist! For the past 18 months we've been posting ALL of our listings there and the response has been really good.

I too use Craigslist.  Some good leads, some bad but not many.  It's a great tool.

I always post my listings on Craigslist and have never gotten a solid lead. I guess it just depends on your area. I'll continue to post there however. It's just too easy...and you never know.

If you can track your listings on your website regarding how many views and from where, I am always amazed at the amount of viewings coming in from Craigslist. It is a great place to advertise.
