On our Missouri Trip in August we stayed a few days at the Branson View Campground in Branson, Missouri. On our last day, the 19th, my daughter Tawnya and grandson Tannyr drove down from Wichita, Kansas to join us for the day and to see a live show at the Branson Belle Showboat on Table Rock Lake.
We had a great day and the variety show we attended was a lot of fun. It was hosted by comedian magician Aaron Radatz who also did some pretty cool magic, with the amazingly versatile Janice Martin who did several impressive aerial stunts and also played the violin, piano, and sang.
One of the headliners was Phil Hughes, ventriloquist comedian. Near the end of his act he called on the audience for participants and my grandson Tannyr was one of three called up to the stage to join Phil as part of the skit. I have to say, it was hilarious!
For one thing, Tannyr is 13 years old and he’s 6 feet tall! He’s often taken for being a lot older. He’s a great kid with a wonderful sense of humor and very cool headed beyond his years... He was a natural and did a really wonderful job of playing along which is evident in the video. Everyone had a lot of fun and many very out loud laughs.
I really enjoyed Phil’s act. His humour is delightfully a little corny on purpose and he’s very gifted engaging his audience. We laughed about it many times on the way back home to Kent, Washington. I lost count of the times one of us would reply to something the other said with, “I like to run, run, run... Oh yah!”
