It's hard to believe, but the new year is right around the corner. Even though it's only September, this is the time of year to evaluate your real estate business. What did you do well and what areas need improvement? How much money did you make and how much do you want to make in the coming year? And this is only the beginning.
How Do You Run Your Real Estate Business?
One of the main areas that many real estate agents often fail to evaluate until it's almost too late, is the actual structure or composition of their business. Are they going to be a solo act, have an assistant, have a buyer's agent, start a team or perhaps join a team. It doesn't matter where you are in your business, these are important questions to consider and can impact the growth of your business. Most agents don't realize they need an assistant until they are overwhelmed with work, have let some things slip through the cracks or are working 18 hours a day, 7 days a week. That probably isn't the lifestyle you imagined when you became an agent.
What Would Work Best For You
So now is the time to think about these things. As you begin to set your business goals for the coming year, think about if you need some help to grow your business. Think about what type of assistant would work best for you. Do you need someone to work in your office or would a virtual assistant work just as well? What duties would you have them perform? Would you want a licensed assistant or do you need a buyer agent?
Now Is The Time To Plan
Don't wait until it's too late to hire an assistant. Start planning and structuring your real estate business now so the transition will be smoother. Take the time to systematize your business practices so that you can simply hand over parts of it to an assistant without missing a beat. Now is the time to write down how you conduct your Buyer and Listing Presentations. Now is the time to write down how you handle new leads.
Get Systems In Place
So if you haven't already done so, put some systems in place (even if you don't plan on hiring an assistant), the systems will make you run a more efficient business and save you time in the long run. Everything from how you return phone calls to how you process a transaction...every aspect of your business should be written down. Who knows, you may get so busy that you have to hire an assistant and when that time comes, you'll be ready.
