As the fall season arrives, many Westfield residents return to the routines that were altered during the summer months. It's the perfect time to "getting back in the swing of things" at the New Jersey Workshop for the Arts Music Studio.
Mark your calendars! On Wednesday, September 9, the NJWA will begin its fall session of instrumental and vocal instruction for both adults and children. A staff of highly skilled and talented music educators and professional artists offer lessons in a 30, 45 or 60 minute format, with instrumental instruction given on brass, guitar, percussion, piano, strings and woodwinds. Students may register at any time and tuition will be pro-rated accordingly.
In addition to individualized lessons, the studio offers other musical options for all age levels. The Rock Performance Workshop is created for teen vocalists and teens with one year of instrumental playing experience. Less experienced rockers can join the members of the Introduction to Rock Performance Workshop.
Adults who are skilled on string instruments have the opportunity to join the Wednesday Morning Strings. Intermediate and advanced alphorn players can become part of the International American Alphorn Society Ensemble, while professional musicians may choose to participate in the Majestic Winds, the professional wind band of the NJWA.
The organization also includes the Music Connection, a program which provides instruction for special needs families.
The NJWA is home to The Westfield Fencing Club, for both children and adults, and the NJWA Summer Workshop, for students in kindergarten through 8th grade. The organization also offers a number of extension programs throughout the community.
