Bethesda Maryland is a great place to live and filled with fascinating people. There are brilliant scientists here in Bethesda at NIH performing cutting edge research. We have prize winning authors and novelists. We are surrounded by history and history making events - and of course, we have world leaders too here.

But we also  have wonderful art and music venues in Bethesda. No need to go to our neighboring city of Washington, DC to visit the National Gallery or the Phillips - as wonderful as they are.  Bethesda has lots of art galleries with wonderful new and established artists.

You should check out the Bethesda Art Walk, which takes place on the second Friday of each month.  Once a month, a collection of the Bethesda galleries showcase artwork created locally, nationally and internationally artists, including painting, photography, sculpture and mixed media. Enjoy several galleries by walking throughout downtown Bethesda to learn more about the Bethesda arts scene and featured artists.

The free Bethesda Circulator stops within a few blocks of each Bethesda Art Walk gallery, and runs continuously throughout the duration of the Art Walk.

My favorite gallery exhibition is probably Union Hardware at 7800 Wiconsin Avenue. Union Hardware is the go to store for amazing bath fixtures and decorative hardware, but it also specializes in functional art beyond the ordinary.  They carry Baccarat and Lalique crystal faucets and a Samurai shower, but it is their reproduced display from the MOMA in NY that is really special.

Union Hardware has several hundred pieces designed by award winning international designers such as Roberto Palomba, Matteo Thun, Franco Sargiani, Massimilliano Settimelli, and Enzo Berti on display.  You can buy a beautiful bathroom vanity and enjoy some wonderful art!

If you are looking for a home in Bethesda Maryland, be sure to hire a local Realtor who knows the neighborhoods.  At the Lise Howe Group, we are all Washington natives and we love showing off our city! Call us at 240-401-5577 or email us at lise@lisehowe.com

The Bethesda Art Walk is an event I would truly enjoy.  I loved this sort of thing when I lived in NYC and there were so many to attend.

Hi Lise -- I find your description of Union Hardware quite intriguing and worthy a visit during Bethesda Art Walk.  It's nice to see art alive, well and promoted in communities - I believe it's so important to each of our communties.

Aloha Lise,

I was always struck by the noticeable difference in "feel" between Virginia and Maryland. Bethesda and Chevy Chase are amazing communities to call home. Your knowledge of the area and market is invaluable to potential buyers or sellers! Best wishes.

a hui hou,
